Winter Candle Holder

Winter Candle Holder

Making the Candle:

To make my candle I knew I had to put the candle in a cup with water surrounding it and then another cup inside of the center of the cup so a hole could form in order for a candle to fit inside of it. I first grabbed a small gatorade bottle and then cut it in half. Then I took the cup outside and filled the bottom up with some snow. I filled it with snow in the sun so the snow would melt a little making it easier to form around the cup. I then took some pine needle from a pine bush in front of my house and put it inside of my cup so it would meet the criteria of having nature elements frozen into the snow.
Then I filled the rest of my cup with snow and formed it in the sun. I was able to pack the snow down using another smaller cup that fit inside of my outer cup.

I then put some extra snow in side the cup and put let it sit in the sun for a little while so it would melt into water. Then once it melted into water I put a smaller cup inside of my outer cup and taped it down with packing tape. I did so I could form an opening in the ice once I freeze it that would fit a candle inside of it.
Then I let it sit in the freezer to freeze and then once it was frozen I cut the outer cup off of the ice and then took the inner cup out of the of by filling it with hot water. After taking both cups off of the ice I put it back in the freezer to sit and solidify before putting the candle in and lighting it.

How it Meets Criteria:

It meets the criteria because it holds the candle safely in the candle holder. The shell is made out of ice and snow and shaped like a cup because it was put inside of a cup in the freezer. It has decorative pine needles frozen into the shell. Lastly, it shows the flame from the candle through the ice. It was even able to last about 1 hour long on my front porch, outside.
