Winter Shelter

Winter Shelter - Alex Pratt

Right in my back yard there are woods. So for this project I went in the woods and as I was walking i came across a creek of water. I then saw next to the creek was a patch of land with branches pushed up against a little hill. I thought this wold be perfect to build my shelter against the hill. So I began to take the branches and pushed them out of the way and made the outline of the shelter.

After making the outline of the shelter I stacked sticks on the side of the shelter to give it support.  I then collected leaves that i could find around me and put them on the ground in the shelter to give the floor a bit of a cushing so you wouldn't be laying on hard sticks or ice.

After putting a 10 x 10 tarp on i put some sticks on top of the tarp to make sure that no wind would be able to blow the tarp off of the shelter or for now openings that rain snow and anything else can get in. Another reason why I angled this shelter up and on angle is so when it rains the water will run off of the shelter and not get caught and fill up on the shelter.  Also for the door in the from i just had a part of the tarp come down and then i took a rock and put it on the bottom so no wind would push it up and I would not have to worry about wind or anything else getting in the shelter.  A reason why someone would be able to survive in this shelter is because it was build next to food sources for example the creek that has freshwater and small fish for food.
