Japanese Engineers have created a transforming robot that can change from a working automobile to a giant robot, like the ones from the Transformers movies. The prototype, named J-diete RIDE, was completed by the collaboration of three different robotics and machinery companies. Starting the project in only 2014, they have now finished and have been bringing the robot to different exhibitions. Unlike the real transformers, the prototype takes about a minute to transform from robot to car and vice versa. The prototype can hold up to 2 passengers and the makers have hopes of eventually making it available at theme parks. When tested, the car could reach a top speed of 60 km/hr. That is pretty amazing for this type of work these engineers are doing.
This project is much more important, however, than theme parks. It is amazing that humans were able to build such a complex and interesting robot, and it only means that our society and world are rapidly changing and innovating everyday. Although it is only a prototype, it is crazy to think that one day these things could be in the streets. As engineers are creating and innovating everyday it is amazing to realize all that has not been created yet. This could be a very large stepping stone for our world as we know it.
