Winter Shelter

Construction

I started off building my shelter against two trees that were pretty close together. The idea was to use the leaves on the trees as extra protection. I laid a stick horizontally just above head height to connect the trees and act a beam that I can lean my walls against. Then I went looking for long, thick branches to carry back to act as my main structure other than the two trees. I used smaller branches to place horizontally to create the walls they are not just bars. This helped strengthen the structure and give it a more wholesome look. The last thing to do was the make the roof. The roof was slanted to help let water runoff and helps to minimize the amount of snow collecting on the top. After making the slanted roof I placed the tarp over the top which covered part of the sides to help with the wind.

Description

This winter structure can house one person easily and two people pretty comfortably. It is also tall enough to stand up in some areas and provides enough room to lay down. It also has protection from snow and rain due to its tarp which should not catch too much snow or rain anyways, due to it being under two large trees.
