I went into the "woods" (my backyard) to build my winter shelter. In a perfect world, this shelter would've been built in a heavily wooded area, on a spot of clear ground. Instead, I improvised. I cleared the ground of snow the best I could, and made a clear spot for my shelter. I began by laying it flat, grey side down on the ground. I then took some very heavy "rocks" and placed them on the two back corners of the tarp. I then took this stick I found and propped the front center of the tarp up. To keep the stick standing, I placed more "rocks" on the front two corners of the tarp. I also placed some logs I found on the sides of the tarp to prevent the wind from blowing through the shelter. To close the shelter during colder hours, the individual simply must move the two open sides closer together, and anchor the tarp from inside the shelter to enclose themselves inside
The design of this shelter can comfortably fit two people either sitting up or lying down. The tarp provides a dry shelter, protect the individual from the elements, and when closed, will stay warm from the body heat of the individual(s).
