One company out of California is introducing a new way for drivers to think about their license plates. The Reviver license plate (rPlate) is a new digital license plate that could be popular in 2018. This new license plate would obviously do more than simply display your vehicle's unique registration information. The plate would be wirelessly hooked up, and would closely represent an iPad or a tablet. The new license plate would be able to make drivers lives a little easier. Waiting in long lines at the DMV to get a new registration sticker would no longer be an issue. The DMV would be able to update everyone's outdated registration through the rPlate. The plate would have tracking technology in it, so there would be a significant reduction of theft and fraud. The plate can tell you where your car is parked, and can relate with parking apps and parking meters, no more quarters. The Reviver could also serve as a moving billboard, capable of displaying advertisements. It can even be programmed to display Amber Alerts, and the weather. Regular license plates have been around since 1903 and are simply slabs of metal. This new concept of a digital license plate will cut down the hassle of going to the DMV, and can be customized very easily. This idea is still in early stages of design, but it is projected that there will be 100,000 rPlates by the year 2018.
